Atlanta Abdominoplasty for Men
Get a tighter, flatter midsection
Attaining a smooth, flat abdomen isn’t easy for any man. But if you have lost a lot of weight, or if your belly seems to get a little more slack with each passing year, trying to improve the appearance of your midsection can seem like a lost cause. Even your genes may be working against you! If you’re concerned with excess, loose skin and persistent pockets of abdominal fat, you have choices.
Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, is designed specifically to target sagging skin, lax musculature, and residual unwanted fat on the belly. By removing excess skin and fat, tightening remaining skin, and repairing underlying muscles, abdominoplasty can safely and effectively restore a slim, flat appearance to your lower abdomen.
Are you a good candidate for abdominoplasty?
Tummy tuck surgery is a great option for men who have loose or sagging skin concentrated around the lower belly and flanks but are at a relatively stable, healthy weight. You are likely a good candidate if:
- You have stubborn pockets of fat and hanging skin on your lower stomach
- Diet and exercise don’t produce the results you want
- Your abdominal muscles are stretched or weak
- You are a non-smoker in general good health
The best way to determine if a male tummy tuck is a good option for you is to get the advice of a board certified plastic surgeon who will listen to your concerns and help you develop an effective surgical plan.
Your Male Tummy Tuck Options
An abdominoplasty procedure is individualized to address your key concerns and desired results. For instance, if your biggest concern is a “spare tire,” or stubborn fatty bulge on the lower stomach, a male liposuction procedure may be the better option. On the other hand, patients who are worried about sagging skin will benefit most from either a modified abdominoplasty, which addresses mildly to moderately loose skin and little-to-no muscle damage, or full tummy tuck. For patients concerned with excessive loose or hanging skin after massive weight loss, an extended tummy tuck or lower body lift may be needed to produce satisfactory results. Your surgeon will help you determine which abdominoplasty procedure will achieve optimal results during your pre-surgery consultation.
My results are mind blowing. It’s such an out of body experience to feel so awesome with my body again.

After Your Abdominoplasty Surgery
Most men are able to return home the same day as abdominoplasty surgery to begin the recovery process at home. In addition to drains, you will need to wear special compression garments to protect your abdomen as you heal. Swelling and moderate discomfort are normal and expected during the first 1 to 2 weeks after surgery. This can be managed with prescription pain medication, though most of our patients switch to over-the-counter alternatives, such as Tylenol, within the first week.
While rest is important, you will be able to walk around the house the day after surgery—but be sure to leave any home projects to someone else. Within about two weeks, you can resume normal, non-strenuous activity—just listen to your body and follow your surgeon’s instructions for allowable activity. Most men are ready to resume an exercise routine within 6 to 8 weeks, and by this time are feeling more confident in their appearance and a renewed motivation to stay fit.
