Training & Education

Dr. Cat earned her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Florida State University before earning her doctor of medicine at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, where she also completed an interdisciplinary health policy and leadership certificate.

She then undertook her residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and pursued additional fellowship training in plastic and reconstructive breast microsurgery.

She has the distinction of being certified by two medical boards, the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Cat is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Georgia Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (SESPRS). She is actively involved with the SESPRS, including serving on several committees and as a panel mediator.

Outside of her cosmetic surgery practice, Dr. Cat has also shared her skills with several medical missions in the US and abroad. Her humanitarian work has taken her to Haiti and Honduras, where she has aided underserved populations and helped train local medical providers.

She and her husband, vascular surgeon Dr. Thomas Matthews, have two beautiful daughters and two lovable dogs.

After growing up in East Tennessee, Dr. Cat attended college in Florida before returning to Tennessee for medical school and then to Alabama for her surgical training. She’s been an honorary Georgian for a few years and has loved exploring and getting to know the area.

In addition to enjoying outdoor activities like hiking and boating, Dr. Cat and her family love traveling and spending time together. Her favorite solo hobby is whipping up tasty treats in the kitchen, and cooking brings her much joy when she’s not too busy helping Atlanta feel beautiful.
