Atlanta Labiaplasty
While many women don’t spend much time thinking about the size or shape of their labia, some women aren’t so lucky. Protruding, irregularly-shaped, or oversized labia can cause embarrassment on a daily basis, in addition to being quite uncomfortable—clothing, exercise, and intimacy can all be impacted.
Large or asymmetrical labia can be an inherited trait or a result of childbirth, aging or weight loss. Whatever the cause, there is no need to live with the effects of excess labial tissue.
Labiaplasty reshapes or reduces the labia minora or labia majora, alleviating the discomfort caused by oversized labia and restoring a more normal appearance to the area. Reducing the labia to a more typical size can improve physical and emotional pain, freeing you to enjoy many of life’s essential activities with greater comfort.
Benefits of Labia Reduction
Women request labiaplasty for different reasons. Most patients simply want to enjoy their day-to-day activities and intimate relationships with comfort and confidence. Although the results may not be visible to anyone but you, labiaplasty can have a very positive effect on your quality of life:
- Clothing options can be improved by returning the labia majora to a more typical size
- Sexual sensitivity and comfort are enhanced by removing excess, loose skin around the labia minora
- Cycling, running and other exercise can be enjoyed in greater comfort
For more complete vaginal rejuvenation, labiaplasty can be enhanced by ThermiVa, a non-surgical treatment for tightening loose or stretched vaginal tissues, or the O-Shot, a in-office injection treatment to help correct sexual dysfunction and enhance your sexual experience. Atlanta Labiaplasty Surgery & Recovery
Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure performed under local or general anesthesia. Your surgery will take place at our fully accredited, on-site private surgical facility. Small incisions are made in the labia minora and/or labia majora, through which excess skin and tissue are removed and reshaped to reduce size and improve symmetry. Incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures, and the evidence of these incisions are usually not visible once healed.
Recovery is typically quick and requires just a few modifications in activity. Some mild discomfort and swelling can be expected after surgery, but this can usually be easily controlled by prescription pain medication for the first day or two, followed by regular Tylenol. Most women return to work within 2-5 days after surgery, and exercise can be resumed within a few weeks. Sexual intercourse will have to be postponed for about a month after surgery.
