Blepharoplasty in Atlanta
Rejuvenate your eyes & brighten your outlook
If your eyes are the windows to your soul, then drooping eyelids and puffy bags under the eyes can act like curtains, making it hard to see the real you behind tired-looking, aged eyes. There’s help for aging eyelids, and it’s called blepharoplasty, or eyelid rejuvenation surgery.
Eyelid surgery corrects unwelcome signs of aging on the upper and lower eyelids by removing excess, sagging skin and repositioning underlying fat and muscle tissue. Our experienced Atlanta plastic surgeons are skilled in advanced eyelid surgery techniques for subtle changes that can make a dramatic difference in how you feel about your appearance.
An eyelid lift may help you if…
You’re unhappy with a persistently fatigued or worried appearance, or you are bothered by noticeably sagging skin around your upper or lower eyelids. Upper or lower eyelid surgery can help alleviate these problems, along with providing a smoother, more refined appearance to your eyes. Among the improvements our plastic surgeons can make with eyelid surgery:
- Puffy bags under the eyes can be smoothed and greatly diminished
- The corners of the eyes can be elevated to achieve a very elegant look
- Expression muscles can be strengthened to erase wrinkles
- Tone can be added to provide a more rested, youthful appearance
- Excess skin can be removed to improve field of vision
What is the eyelid surgery procedure like?
Eyelid surgery is a relatively short, outpatient procedure performed in our accredited, private surgery suite. The specifics of surgery depend on your personal goals and what part of your eyelids require attention. During an upper eyelid procedure, your surgeon will make a tiny incision in the natural crease of the upper eyelid and/or inside the eyelid, removing excess skin and repositioning any muscle to achieve a more open, better refreshed appearance. A lower eyelid procedure typically involves an incision along the lower lash line. Excess, herniated fat is removed or repositioned to eliminate puffiness and smooth out the area under the eyes.
Recovery & aftercare for eyelid procedures
You’ll be ready to go home shortly after your eyelid surgery to rest in comfort. You won’t be confined to bed, but you should take it easy for the first 2 or 3 days. Don’t worry—you will be able to see after surgery; there are no bandages on the eyes. But, you will notice your eyes tire easily for a few weeks, so save that attempt to read an entire novel for later. Most patients are back to work in about a week for a desk job, taking necessary breaks to rest the eyes.
Other procedures to consider for rejuvenating the eyes
We offer a number of surgical and non-surgical options that can help enhance the results of eyelid surgery:
- A facelift can extend a more refreshed appearance to the entire face by eliminating jowls & refining the jawline
- Botox or Dysport can relax facial muscles around eyes to soften crow’s feet and frown lines
- A brow lift can rejuvenate a sagging, furrowed brow for a more complete rejuvenation of the upper face
Complete your facial rejuvenation with non-surgical enhancements
If you, like many of our patients, are also frustrated by additional signs of aging or concerns such as sagging skin or fine lines and wrinkles, a complementary procedure can easily be incorporated into your surgical plan to help you achieve a more overall refreshed look!
