Sculptra is an FDA approved injectable filler made from a synthetic, biocompatible (it’s safe to be in your body) material called poly-L-lactic acid. Sculptra is a little different from other injectable fillers we offer at The Swan Center. First, you won’t notice results immediately following treatment. Sculptra is intended to work gradually, so there is little chance that someone will guess that you’ve had help looking so youthful. Second, because the main “filler” in Sculptra is your own collagen, results typically last longer than what you might expect from other fillers—up to two years in most cases.
Does Sculptra sound like an anti-aging solution that’s up your alley? Here’s what you can expect when you come in for treatment. The first step is to meet with us for a personal consultation. We will discuss your goals, evaluate your skin, and help you figure out the best treatment option for you. If it’s Sculptra, then we’ll schedule your series of treatments. Each one takes about 15 minutes, and we typically recommend 3 or 4 treatments spaced about one month apart.
Injections are not usually painful, but we can apply a topical anesthetic to help you stay comfortable. Following treatment, you can return to your daily activities, although it’s best to avoid strenuous exercise right afterwards. Slight swelling, bruising, tenderness or redness around the injection site are the most common side effects; these effects are usually mild and dissipate during the week or so following treatment.
As you continue on your Sculptra treatment course, you will notice the creases around your nose and mouth becoming less pronounced. After 2 or 3 months, the rejuvenating effects of Sculptra will be in full force, giving you a smoother, more youthful facial appearance.
